APR Mechanical in Smeaton Grange service and repair shock absorbers and suspension systems Our mechanics have the experience and knowledge to fix whatever problems you may have quickly and efficiently. We also strive to provide the best customer service experience in the industry. Most people think of shock absorbers as a system that supports driver comfort but they are much more important than that. In combination with your car's suspension, the shocks (shock absorbers) play a vital role in keeping you, your passengers and your vehicle safe whilst braking, cornering and general driving. It is therefore very important to get any issues with your shocks checked immediately. When to get your suspension and shock absorbers checked out: You notice your car is taking a greater distance to stop that usual Your car's bonnet dips when braking The steering wheel vibrates The car veers in side winds The tyres are wearing unevenly If you think you need your suspension or shock absorbers checked, speak with APR Mechanical or book online today! Have questions about your shock absorbers? Should I replace my shock absorbers? The best way to determine if your shock absorbers are worn and whether your car is safe to drive, is by a visit to a mechanic workshop. Smeaton Grange car service APR Mechanical provides a FREE 65 Point Vehicle Inspection Report with every car service and can quickly identify if your shocks absorbers need to be replaced, as well as identify any other malfunctioning mechanic components of your car.
As a precaution, check for the following indicators of excessive shock absorber wear
• tyres worn unevenly: if your tyre wear is uneven, especially with bald patches
• car is sliding to sides: if your car veers in side winds, even with mild gusts
• car swerves and nosedives: if your car's bonnet dips when stopping, or the car swerves when braking
• car shaking or rattling: if uneven road causes the vehicle to bump, jump and lose tyre contact with the road
• trouble stopping: if car takes longer to stop and your braking distance is increased When do my shock absorbers need servicing? Uneven tyre wear is a sure sign you need your car looked at at a professional car service to identify whether the cause is wear of shock absorbers, or your car is in a need for a wheel alignment or more serious servicing. Also, worn mounts and rubber, sagging springs or unusual noise when operating your car could indicate shock absorber damage and need for a service. Naturally, leaking fluid from shock absorbers is a clear indicator that your shock absorbers need some professional attention.

As well as the installation of Liquid and Vapour LPG systems, APR Mechanical can also service and repair them as required. Our highly experienced LPG technicians can run a full diagnostic check, including a detailed safety inspection of your LPG system to ensure it is performing at peak efficiency. We also provide complete gas tank recertification, tuning and repair services. LPG tanks in vehicles must be inspected once they have been in use for 10 years. This includes having the tank itself tested for structural integrity and testing of emergency pressure relief valves for proper function and safety. Having passed the inspection and components having been replaced where applicable, the LPG tank will be date stamped to confirm it is safe to use for another 10 years. What does an LPG recertification involve? The LPG Tank will usually need to be removed from the vehicle to enable a complete inspection. LPG Tanks that designed to spend the majority of their life inside the vehicle will often be in very good condition, but tend to be harder to access. 4WD and commercial vehicles will often have their LPG tanks mounted on the underside or outside of the vehicle. This means they are usually easier to access, but the nature of their positioning means they are also more exposed to the elements and corrosion or other damage is much more likely. How much does LPG recertification cost? The actual cost of testing an LPG tank will vary from vehicle to vehicle. On some vehicles it may be a relatively simple task to gain access to the LPG tank, but in some cases it often proves more difficult and could involve removing other components to gain access to the tank itself. Contact us and tell us a bit about your vehicle and we can give you more of an idea on cost. APR Mechanical are specialists in the supply, fitting and inspection of both Vapour Injection and liquid injection LPG systems. Speak with the team today or book online!

New Car Service in Smeaton Grange

Engines that operate through internal combustion rely on large amounts of clean air to ensure the fuel burns properly and generates the power needed to drive the vehicle. At APR Mechanical in Smeaton Grange, we understand how vital it is to keep your car's air filter in good condition as part of protecting your engine's health. Your engine requires extremely clean air to function efficiently. Dirt, dust, and other particles entering the engine can cause serious damage. That’s where the air filter comes into play. It ensures the air entering the combustion chambers is clean, shielding key engine components such as the pistons and cylinders from wear and damage. Why Replace Your Air Filter? Save on Fuel Costs: Your engine requires the correct balance of fuel and air to run efficiently. A clogged air filter restricts airflow, causing your engine to run inefficiently – often referred to as ‘running rich.’ This not only puts additional stress on your engine but can also increase fuel consumption by up to 10%. No one likes spending more on petrol than necessary! Protect Your Engine: Over time, air filters become clogged and weaker, increasing the risk of damage. A damaged or overly dirty air filter can allow harmful particles to enter the engine, potentially leading to expensive repairs. Benefits of Replacing Your Air Filter: Extends the life of your engine Improves fuel efficiency Reduces vehicle emissions At APR Mechanical, we always check the condition of your air filter during every full car service. Whether it’s a major or minor service, or one that follows your manufacturer’s handbook or logbook guidelines, you can trust us to keep your engine running smoothly.

Keep your engine healthy with clean air filters. Improve fuel efficiency, reduce emissions, and extend engine life. Visit APR Mechanical for expert maintenance and reliable car servicing.
